Yes. Original music is alive and well in this little big SAYTOWN.  If you are hoping to clean out your heart cockles with some pleasantly unique frequencies, then Main Street is the place to be.  You will begin traveling on another plane of existence after listening to their vibe.  Really.

LISA FISCHER is a singer who really gets around. Her life is an endless round of planes, trains, and automobiles, rehearsals and fittings. On tour with the Rolling Stones, Sting, Chris Botti or Nine Inch Nails, her name may not be on the marquee, but she doesn’t care. She’s busy loving every minute of it.

Lisa rose to fame in 1992 when she won a Grammy® for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for her first single, “How Can I Ease the Pain,” from her album So Intense beating out the “Queen of Soul” and in an unlikely tie with Patti LaBelle. The rest of her resumé is pretty impressive too: touring, recording, and music making with Tina Turner, Chaka Khan, Beyonce, Dionne Warwick, Dolly Parton, Bobby McFerrin, Alicia Keyes and many others. Along with many other top session and backup singers she’s featured in Morgan Neville’s Oscar and Grammy-winning 2013 documentary Twenty Feet from Stardom. WRITER’S BLOC: San Antonio Jazz Composer’s Consortium for New Music.

Merriam-Websters defines “Bloc” as “a group of people or countries that are connected by a treaty or agreement or by common goals.” This group of composers has brought it’s collective talent and energy together to present the new music that is being written in the San Antonio region. The goal of this group is to present as much of the music being written by new young composers, as well as the established writing talent of our city to the public.

THIS MONTH’S FEATURED COMPOSERS:

Adrian Ruiz, Aaron Prado, Brian Christiensen, Joe Caploe, Mark Little, and Steve Mohacey

Carmens de la Calle Cafe…320 N Flores St, San Antonio, Texas 78205

Soooo, I’ve been a minute or a thousand.  I apologize but the gauntlet has been thrown and I’ve accepted the ASP.Net challenge.  I spent the entire weekend held up in my little home office, mainly debugging.  Stay tuned for tales of the new collaboration widget for musicians and my scalable musician site complete with a MySQL backend that almost looks as good as mine…

…almost.

Those of you who know my love and adoration for anything and everything vegan may scoff at this post.  I just really like the atmosphere at Zombie’s.  It’s swimming in non-pretentiousness.  I like that.  I like that a lot.
